Everlasting bear, or whatever it is

So I started this bear last fall for a Christmas present (there were three planned, only one started), and I had sewn a hand on upside down. The other day I decided to face it, and fix the mistake. Took all of 5 minutes. Literally. Big B and Lando helped me stuff it, and there it sits, almost forlornly (can't be certain as it has no face), waiting for an expression and some clothes. Once again, however, I no longer want to work on it. Not to mention nothing has come to me as far as how I want the face done (as good excuse as any), and I've overwhelmed myself with vain imaginings as to detailed clothing. So it will sit for a while unfinished, until I am able to make a decision or have a desire or purpose for finishing it, and that's o.k., I am pretty pleased that it (he?) is all put together at last...

Fun and food

As for food, I was bored, and I was feeling a little bad because I couldn't just go out and buy ingredients or tools for other things I could try, so I experimented with cookies. Turn to Linda's Eternal Surprise Cookie recipe (in Mom's book made by Megan), use lemon extract for the 'spice', and slivered almonds, and wal-lah, you have lemon meringue cookies (I think maybe pecans would be even better). So, here they are...

Anyway, I'm feeling much better now. Activity, sugar, and fat, are a good mix for me (not to mention the good smells of baking, and something to post).

Stephen took the children to the Roy Aquatic Center for the ward activity because Landon wasn't feeling well, so I chose to stay home with him. Here are some pictures he took:

Boy, they had so much fun!

Unknown

Here is Big B on his very first day of school. He enjoyed it.

Today, however, he had a run-in with the teacher because he wanted to take a picture he had made home to me and she wouldn't let him. I am kind of at a loss. This is the first time I have ever had the principal have to talk with me about my child (even if it was mainly to explain what had happened, and why he was unhappy), but I also wonder why she didn't just let him bring it home with a note to say it needed to go back the next day or something like that. It seems like I remember a teacher doing that with Tanner before... Anyway, he came home screaming and crying that he hates his teacher, and is showing signs of possible struggle when it is time to go tomorrow (cross your fingers).

Here are, finally, all the kitchen curtains finished. Hooray! It really is a nice feeling to get a project done, and I feel our home is looking a little less sparse.

And, double "Hooray!" for a finished Mystery Quilt (McCall's quilting magazine) top!

I have yet to decide how to quilt it, so I am skipping ahead to finish the border on MQ #2. Mom offered to machine quilt one, so I may take her up on that- first I'll have to figure out a back though.

July!

Well, this morning was the big pioneer parade in Ogden. I didn't get any pictures, however. Everyone was complaining about the heat and needing a drink (yes, I admit it, I left the house without water in this heat, I so don't have anything together), so we left early. Strangely, I wasn't uncomfortable at all, was it really that hot? There was even a breeze..
I don't believe I posted for Bryces birthday way back when so here it is, late;
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYCE-Y!

We were at Melanie's swimming on Saturday, that was so much fun. Thanks Ryan and Melanie and in-laws! Really a nice time. I hope we didn't overstay our welcome.
Go see pictures of fireworks that night on inanechatter.

School starts tomorrow. Hope you are all enjoying your summer!

I've been thinking

Is polygamy against the law? Because I thought it was, and if it is how can anyone think that same-sex marriages should be legal? If they don't define marriage as being between one man and one woman they are going to have to change that law about polygamy too...

Also, I found this article interesting, although I just realized it was from last year.
Hmm. I was just reading a bit about this and one person pointed out that polygamy is actually one man with multiple marriages, each a separate marriage to one woman, not a man with one marriage to a group of women, so it still falls under the definition of one man to one woman.

"Take a picture it'll last longer."

I finally got whatever kick I needed yesterday and cleaned the living room carpet. I realize it may not last through today, but it really needed to be done, too many unsupervised forays into the living room with food or food covered bodies left their mark. I also cleaned some of the cushion covers. Anyway, when it comes to abilities and talents cleaning doesn't require much and you still get a passing sense of satisfaction. So. Here's a picture so it lasts longer...

Also here is one that Tanner took of the two youngest passing the time (getting along)...

Finished product

Umm, no matter how I started this paragraph it sounded stupid. Anyway, I used some hand-me-down knit from Mom and an old pattern for a shirt adjusted for our big headed, small shouldered, nightgown wearing maniac.

As for this curtain, I still have one more to go and now I am out of ribbon... I hope JoAnn's will be carrying this one for a while.

Happy Birthday Angelheart!

*I must note, she isn't just being silly. This was a glow stick she had at night and thought it might look neat to have her face glowing, but with the flash it was too bright and without it was too dark, and that is just about the limit of my abilities with my digital camera.

A blog entry I came across, made me laugh

Just a well written post that helps us laugh a bit at life's little mishaps.

The good ol' Summertime!

I really don't have a ton to say. I've been reading my life away and enjoying it immensley.
Anyway, our rasperries are rotting on the bush after already having eaten a lot and made freezer jam and fruit leather with more, I feel a little guilty, but after writing this I think I just might want to do some more fruit leather. Here they are in their first glorious burst. Such the taste of summer!
